Book Review: Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand

Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If I had to choose one word to describe this book, it would simply be WOW.  Nonfiction that reads like the best of fiction, Unbroken details the life of Louie Zamperini, a wild kid turned Olympic athlete turned WW II Bombadier turned crash survivor stranded on a raft in the Pacific.  And there's more, but I don't want too many spoilers in this review.

As the title states, it's a story of survival, resilience, and redemption.  I'd like to add well-written, page-turning, fascinating, tear-jerking, inspiring, amazing.

This story is a testament to the strength of the human spirit.  It motivates me to get up off the couch and work hard to make my many dreams come true, to overcome my many obstacles and weaknesses.  To test my upper limits.

Unbroken, as far as I'm concerned, is a buy-it-now-even-though-it's-still-in-hardback-because-it's-worth-having-on-your-bookshelf-for-years-to-come must read.
