My third kid is about to enter middle school. I'll definitely need some sort of mind-altering substance (does chocolate fit in that category?) to survive 3 teenagers under one roof.
If you ever see me wandering listlessly in the middle of the road or buying up the entire chocolate aisle in the grocery store, you have my permission to put me in your car or the chocolate back on the shelves, take me home and tuck me into bed with soft music playing in the background.
When I come to my senses, I will add you to my will.
But back to Seth. If I can be indulged being slightly over-exuberant (because it is warranted), he is a tremendously fantastic kid. To date, he has yet to display teenage tendencies -- I cannot overemphasize how much I appreciate this.
Seth feels like he is simply too short -- he came home the other day and went straight to the computer, researching what one must do to grow. He announced that he needs to eat well and hang upside down a lot. On his list for me to buy: a bar high enough for him to hang from. I tell him that his time will come -- one day soon, I will be looking up at him.
Seth also has Ninja skills. After I bragged to him during church that I had opened the hymnbook to the exact page I was looking for, he shrugged and said, "I do that all the time. I'm just that awesome. Plus, I have Ninja skills." Later in the meeting, he dismantled a pen (against my advice) and couldn't reassemble it because a miniscule piece had gotten lost. "I thought you had Ninja skills," I reminded him. "I do, but even Ninjas need the right materials."
Seth's skills don't end at Ninja; they also include school skills and people skills. He was voted "Nicest Guy" in his class, got perfect attendance, A honor role, and landed in 2nd place for the most Reading Counts points.
Congratulations to Seth -- the boy with skills who's just that awesome (but not that tall -- yet).

I loved all the end of school year updates! You have great kids. And I've got some swiss chocolate in Utah if the "teen" atmosphere becomes too heavy. :)
