If You Lived Here, I'd Know Your Name: News from Small-Town Alaska by Heather LendeMy rating: 3 of 5 stars
Written by a woman from the East Coast who honeymooned in Alaska, and she and her husband never looked back. They stayed there in a small town and raised their 5 children. Heather took over the obituary beat in her local paper from a retiring reporter and vowed to write her obituaries as true tributes to the deceased. This book is a compilation of stories from Heather's life interwoven with stories of locals who have lost their lives.
Well-written and engaging. Makes me want to visit Alaska (almost makes me want to move there, but not quite).
Her next book, "Take Good Care of the Garden and the Dogs," is said to be even better -- tells the story of her being hit by a truck and almost dying around the same time her mom dies. I look forward to reading it.
