Edenbrooke by Julianne DonaldsonMy rating: 3 of 5 stars
I am clearly in the minority, rating this book 3 stars.
What I liked:
The plot, which definitely pulled me in. Who doesn't love a good love story?
The writing, which is (mostly) well-crafted.
What I didn't love:
Plot details . . .
Like the fact that the main character, who is endlessly spouting off well-crafted and witty prose, is seventeen. I have a daughter who will turn seventeen in a month. She is one of the smartest kids I know, but would never be able to come up with such prose on the fly. It's simply unrealistic.
And the plot's predictability -- which I am sure is why the book is so well-loved. It just seemed a bit cliche'.
But still an enjoyable and refreshing read.
